    Job Opportunity

    We are seeking a highly skilled Underwriting Expert to join our team at Santam Insurance.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and manage a portfolio of existing and new business, ensuring alignment with underwriting governance principles.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to drive business growth and achieve targets.
    • Analyze and explain changes in terms or underwriting stance to clients and stakeholders.
    • Build strong relationships with brokers to discuss new business opportunities and renewals.

    Client Focus:

    • Deliver exceptional client service, responding to queries and resolving issues within scope.
    • Prepare for and attend meetings to discuss business developments and strategies.
    • Monitor and report on key business metrics, including renewal and new business trends.

    Strategic Contributions:

    • Provide strategic insights to relevant business areas as required.

    Administrative Tasks:

    • Ensure timely completion of quotations and renewals.
    • Verify and sign policy documentation.
    • Assist with credit control as needed.
    • Maintain organizational standards through daily administrative tasks.

    Requirements

    To be successful in this role, you should have:

    • At least 5 years of experience in short-term insurance, preferably in casualty lines or commercial underwriting.
    • Strong technical underwriting skills.
    • A matriculation certificate.
    • Preferrably, a tertiary insurance or risk management qualification, or FAIS compliance.
