    Financial Manager Opportunity

    Our client, a family-owned and operated export trading business based in Durban, has been thriving for 51 years. They specialize in exporting FMCGs, fruit and vegetables, wines, and building materials to over 55 countries worldwide. The company also maintains subsidiary businesses in various international locations.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Financial Strategy and Planning

      • Develop and implement the organization's financial strategy and long-term financial planning.
      • Provide financial insights and guidance to the executive team and board of directors.
      • Evaluate the organization's financial health and recommend improvement actions.
      • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company's objectives.
    2. Oversee the preparation of comprehensive financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
    3. Maintain strict adherence to accounting standards and regulations.
    4. Deliver timely and accurate financial reports to both internal and external stakeholders.
    5. Budgeting and Forecasting

      • Lead the budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to establish financial targets and monitor performance against budgets.
      • Develop financial forecasts and scenarios to inform decision-making and resource allocation.
    6. Cash Flow Management

      • Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure liquidity needs are met.
      • Identify and assess financial risks, such as market volatility, credit risk, and operational risk.
      • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate financial threats.
    7. Investment and Capital Management

      • Evaluate investment opportunities and capital allocation decisions.
      • Optimize the organization's capital structure and manage debt and equity financing.
    8. Tax Planning and Compliance

      • Maintain strict compliance with tax regulations and minimize tax liabilities.
      • Collaborate with tax professionals to develop tax-efficient strategies.
    9. Financial Controls and Policies

      • Establish and maintain robust internal financial controls to safeguard the organization's assets.
      • Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures.
      • Conduct financial analysis, including cost-benefit analysis and financial modeling, to support strategic decision-making.
    10. Relationship Management

      • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators, investors, and financial institutions.
      • Manage and mentor the finance team.
      • Provide leadership and direction to the finance department.
    11. Compliance and Legal Matters

      • Maintain strict adherence to all financial and legal requirements, including regulatory filings and reporting.
    12. Technology and Systems

      • Implement and oversee financial management systems and technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.

    • Strong understanding of international trade and foreign exchange.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Good experience in managing a finance team.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Familiarity with the Syspro accounting package is essential.

    Package & Remuneration

    R80,000 per month TCTC
