As a Gate Commander you are responsible for your team and daily running of your post. You are to ensure that all access/ egress controls are in place and procedures are followed. You are responsible for following the correct handing over procedures and reporting of abnormalities to your Shift Senior. You are required to train your team daily to ensure procedures are understood and met.

To be successful as a gate commander, you should be able to run a team of people to ensure that all duties are performed accurately.

Job Requirements:

• Clean Criminal Record
• Minimum Grade 12 (certified copy of school certificate)
• Minimum PSIRA Grade C certification
• No previous dismissals
• Recognised Security Experience

- +- 3 years previous Gate Commander /2IC experience


Key Responsibilities will be but not limited to:

• Site Induction
• Weekly Reports
• Shift handing overs
• Coach, mentor and motivate staff
• Observing and assisting with access control
• Daily, Weekly and monthly controlling of documentation

Personal Qualities:

• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills in English (Written & Spoken)
• Sound security experience and record
• Decision making Skills
• Experience in people management and high levels of leadership skills, communication and engagement skills.
• Disciplinary knowledge and management
• Excellent radio communication and knowledge of phonetic alphabet and communication procedures
• Computer literate

Core Working Hours:

Day Shift 5h20 - 17h30/ Night Shift 17h20 - 05h30
