    Junior IT / Audiovisual Technician

    The Junior IT / Audiovisual Technician is responsible for supporting the IT Department. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting, answering technical questions from employees and providing general technical support, as well as overseeing the audiovisual needs of the school.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide Technical Desktop Support (Hardware and Software):
      • Deploy new software and hardware, troubleshoot, and perform regular upgrades of network equipment (laptops, PCs, tablets, chromebooks, printers, mobile devices)
      • Desktop Support - Users: (Staff and Learners) including setting up new users, resetting passwords, training staff on Google / Microsoft Apps etc.
      • Troubleshoot VOIP related issues
    • Systems Administration:
      • Provide assistance to the IT Manager within maintenance of the Microsoft and Linux Servers:
      • Microsoft Servers (File Servers), Network Security (Anti-Virus), Print Server (Ysoft), Wi-Fi Network (Ruckus Wi-Fi System, controller and Access Points monitoring, Aruba APs and Controller), and Wired Network Infrastructure (Switches and cabling).
    • Audovisual Systems
      • Set up and operate audio and video equipment (including sound mixing consoles, amplifiers, microphones, loudspeakers, rigging and programming lights, projectors)
      • Manage the Digital lighting and Sound related requests across campus efficiently
      • Maintenance and operation (including planning, organising and implementing) of performance related equipment at the various venues, including all sound, lights, video, projector and IT hardware; during events, rehearsals, performances, and academic assessments.

    Requirements:

    • Qualifications:
      • Minimum of Grade 12 plus an IT/Technical Diploma
      • A Technical Degree would be an advantage
    • Experience:
      • At least 3 years experience within a similar role
    • Skills:
      • Excellent verbal and written communication ability
      • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team environment
      • Ability to work independently in solving problems
      • Focus on servicing the customers
      • Quick learner
      • Knowledge of Windows, Android, iOS and other operating systems used within the school
      • Knowledge of basic computer hardware and peripherals
      • Knowledge of server operating systems (Microsoft Server)
      • Basic knowledge of educational and business software applications in order to support staff and students:
      • Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Ysoft Printing, E-Mail software (GMAIL & MS Outlook)

    Working Conditions:

    • Hours of work: contractually 7.15 am - 4pm daily Mon- Fri
    • Salary bracket: R10 - 12K per month
    • Leave: Most of school holidays etc (minimum 22 days per annum)
    • Excellent computer skills, professional, customer service experience, general IT Tech duties.
    • Late evenings and weekends due to functions that require audio-visual assistance.
    • The ideal candidate should preferably be mobile or have access to reliable transport.
