FIXED-TERM CONTRACT (24 MONTHS TO PERM) WITH THREE MONTHS' PROBATION, GRADE D2, SALARY UP TO

R TOTAL COST OF EMPLOYMENT PER ANNUM
Our client is the implementation arm one of the Departments.

Our client has the mandate to lead, facilitate and manage sustainable job creation and inclusive economic growth and development in the Gauteng City Region through:


  • Enabling economic development that is focused on creating sustainable jobs by facilitating delivery of key national and provincial programmes of action.
  • Strategically positioning the province into a globally competitive city region.
  • Facilitating partnerships and creating linkages across the province to maximise service delivery outcomes.
  • Supporting the development of Key Sectors of the economy in line with the economic development and industrial strategies of the province by carrying out:
  • Business enablement
  • Establishment of capital projects
  • Land development
  • Trade and investment promotion



THE SUCCESSFUL INCUMBENT WILL BE REPORTING TO THE SENIOR MANAGER:
BUSINESS RETENTION EXPANSION AND AFTERCARE AND WILL BE EXPECTED TO EXECUTE THE FOLLOWING TASKS
:

  • Develop and strengthen communication channel with existing business and organised business formations.
  • Provide support for effective and efficient operations of the firm including, but not limited to training support, identifying ideal suppliers and cluster development to improve production and competitiveness.
  • Develop and implement programmes to retain and expand existing investors.
  • Develop and implement a coherent and effective corporate and investor visitation programme.
  • Develop a program to influence the future direction of the firms, the development of new capabilities, e.g., support the development of new, higher value add products, nurturing local suppliers to international standards.
  • Increase the market for existing businesses to enable them to expand operations.
  • Facilitate access to expansion incentives and distressed companies' mechanisms.
  • Manage the Distressed Companies Hotline and Call Centre.
  • Develop and implement industry cluster and value chain promotion for expanding investments.
  • Establish and manage Gauteng City Region's BREA Forums/Committees across the 5 strategic regional corridors.
  • Support and drive inclusive industrialisation through industrial park revitalization programmes and SEZ programmes.
  • Formation of strategic partnership with business chambers, industry associations and export councils thus alignment with business formation within the region.
  • Facilitate and coordinate business roundtables/sessions in collaboration with strategic partners.
  • Undertake regulatory impact assessment and lobby government regarding cost of compliance with laws and regulations thus support policy advocacy.
  • Identify and assist removing impediments to handling bottlenecks faced by investors/businesses.
  • Proactively identify and address threat of possible downsizing and/or relocation.
  • Offer business insight that can influence the direction of the firm and the development of new capabilities.
  • Establish the type and nature of information required by firms.
  • Maintain a healthy working relationship with investors / companies and relevant stakeholders in Gauteng City Region.
  • Manage conflicts that may have risen and liaise with the relevant role players to resolve the conflict.
  • Integration of different sectors into new partnerships.

APPLICANTS SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS:

  • B Degree or equivalent qualifications in Commerce or Economics
  • 5 years' experience in similar environment
  • Sound industry experience and proven track record in Investment Retention & Expansion
  • Computer literate
  • Driver's license and own car (a Must)

  • Understanding of investment promotion and facilitation environment and regulation of key industries.
  • Strong knowledge of Gauteng's economic policies/plans (GGT 2030) and the region's high growth sectors.

  • Strong business Acumen/intelligence.
  • Ability to coordinate and chair high profile meetings/engagements.
  • Result orientate and proactive.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong presentation skills: Ability to confidently present information and communicate well at the senior management level using appropriate language and style
  • Strong analytical skills: Ability to collect all relevant information, identify key issues/relationships and relate and compare data from different sources to identify opportunities.
