    Responsibilities:

    Coordinating and directing budgetary and financial forecasts for certain In Country finance cost centres.

    Researching technical accounting and tax issues for compliance.

    Ensuring quality control for financial reporting and transactions and ensure accounting compliance under IRFS for SME's for all PwC SA legal entities.

    Participate in developing and documenting accounting policies and business processes to strengthen internal controls.

    Manage, mentor and lead the partner payroll and statutory compliance team, including hiring, training and performance evaluations.

    Work closely with the PwC Partner Affairs function to ensure processes are adequate for the interface/flow of changes to partner payrolls and ensure that accurate records are kept (payroll, GL & partner current accounts). Review general ledger reconciliations regarding partner payroll control accounts and take actions to clear items where necessary.

    Oversee the partners payroll function to ensure accurate and timely payment of the monthly payroll and compliance regarding PAYE/other legislation. Oversee projects and system implementations/upgrades of payroll software.

    Oversee the local treasury function (including facility reviews, reporting, treasury transfers of funds between bank accounts, KYC updates etc).

    Manage tax risks by implementing controls to ensure accurate tax reporting (VAT, PAYE, Corporate Tax) and implementing recommendations from tax audits or internal audit reviews.

    Liaise with the PwC Africa Internal Tax lead on changes in tax legislation and coordinate implementation of changes where required in cooperation with PwC Continuous Improvement, In-Country Finance Operations Lead and Africa Finance Shared Services.

    Quarterly reporting regarding PwC SA tax compliance for purposes of status updates to leadership and the Risk and Operations committee of the PwC Africa Governance Board.

    Preparation and presentation of annual reporting on total taxes paid. Initiating tax payment (VAT, and other Taxes) for release, ensure queries from SARS are resolved timeously.

    Preparing and coordinating statutory financial statements of all PwC South Africa and eSwatini legal entities and other regulatory reporting (for example Statistics South Africa + additional reporting/returns for Namibia, Eswatini, India and USA).

    Coordinate activities of external auditors and preparation of required items and query resolution.

    Work with PwC legal resources (OGC) in ensuring that all governance/ compliance requirements are met in the finalisation of annual AFS. Prepare and present the annual reconciliation between management and statutory accounts. Responsible for final entries to financial records/invoicing of transactions between legal entities after year-end, where required.

    Presentation of legal entity tax calculations and returns for review and sign-off by the PwC SA Designated Tax Professional (DTP) and Tax department.

    Preparing and coordinating of the annual tax packs for distribution to partners and assist with any queries in this regard.

    Managing and complying with reporting requirements and tax filings. Ensure tax compliance with all tax reporting requirements in South Africa and other countries where there is a filing requirement, including income tax, VAT, provisional tax, dividend tax, obtaining tax clearance, updates to the transfer pricing policy, NCR returns.

    Assist with financial information required by PwC proposals team for tenders.

    Drive efficiencies in the function and further digitise processes.

  • Qualification & Experience

    Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in financial accounting
  • CA (SA) / B Com Honours in Accounting
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in accounting, taxation, SARS queries or other tax knowledge
