Job Description:


  • The Draughtsperson delivers a support and service solution to MRM Technical specialists by means of Computer Aided Draughting and Geographic Information Systems, whilst staying abreast of the latest technological advancements and industry best practice.

You will be tasked with performing the following activities:

  • Compiles and maintains statutory and non-statutory mine plans (maps) and other graphical products required for a mine or project
  • Maintains the GIS/CAD database for optimal use
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of GIS/CAD technology, software and hardware
  • Produce Point Cloud models.
  • Update working plans on a daily, monthly and quarterly basis
  • Adhere to departmental standards and procedures pertaining to Draughting
  • Liaise with all MRM departments
  • Prioritising and time management of activities/tasks
  • Ensuring CAD best practices are executed

This role is a C5 level reporting to the MRM Systems Analyst

Qualifications:


  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
  • Chamber of Mines Survey Draughting certificate
  • GIS Qualification (advantageous)
  • Elementary Mine Survey Certificate (advantageous)
  • Tertiary CAD Qualification (advantageous)

Experience, Knowledge & Skills:


  • At least 3 years' experience in a Draughting Office
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a Mineral Resources environment
  • Knowledge of Geology, Survey, Rock Engineering, Planning and Ventilation
  • Experience working with a GIS system would be advantageous
  • MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
  • MineRP CAD
  • ArcGIS
  • MS Office proficiency
  • In depth knowledge of Chapter 17 of the Mine Health and Safety Act, 1996 (Act no. 29 of 1996)
  • Medically fit
