    Senior Accountant Job Description

    We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team, reporting directly to the Finance Manager. This role encompasses leadership and supervision of 5 direct reports: Accountant, Stock Controller, Debtors & Creditors Clerk, and Administrator.

    We operate from our head office in Tzaneen, with 11 branches nationwide, employing over 200 staff members to ensure exceptional customer service.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Develop and maintain internal policies, procedures, and processes.
    2. Prepare comprehensive Financial and Operational Reports.
    3. Consolidate Annual Budgets for submission.
    4. Prepare and submit Statutory Returns in compliance with regulations.
    5. Collaborate closely with the CFO, FM, Accountant, and Credit Control team members.
    6. HR Administration: Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and accounting policies; Manage, mentor, and coach subordinates; Evaluate subordinate performance.
    7. Maintain effective cash flow management.
    8. Ensure accurate and timely financial records, adhering to accepted policies and procedures.
    9. Meet all financial reporting deadlines by recording transactions promptly in the company ERP system.
    10. Assist in preparing financial management reports.
    11. E nsure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
    12. Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures.
    13. Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
    14. Develop and maintain financial databases.
    15. Work collaboratively with internal and external auditors on financial audits.
    16. Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses, maintaining complete, accurate, and up-to-date files of working papers to support the figures recorded in the monthly management and year-end accounts, including month-end A/R & A/P balances, Inventory listings, and ageing reports for all sub-ledgers.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Bcom) with completed Articles.
    • A minimum of 5-10 years of working experience.
    • Proficiency in Sage Accounting, MS Work, and Excel.
