Reports To: Principal or Assistant Principal

Position Purpose:

As a Physical Activity Instructor at SPARK Schools, you will enhance student success by cultivating a positive culture and promoting effective physical education practices. You will engage directly with students in outdoor sports settings to foster their health and wellness.

Your role is vital to the SPARK Schools ethos and our dedication to providing rigorous and engaging learning experiences for our scholars.

Responsibilities:

• Foster a positive environment around physical education while maintaining high behavioral standards for all students.
• Implement SPARK's culture and behavior management strategies, including the SPARK Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Curriculum.
• Supervise students during morning arrivals.
• Prepare for SPARK events.
• Actively coach students in developing gross motor skills, teamwork, and specific sports techniques.
• Educate students on healthy eating, exercise, and hygiene practices, emphasizing positive choices both at home and school.
• Design lesson plans aligned with the network-wide physical education curriculum, tailored to individual student needs.
• Develop strategies to enhance content delivery and student outcomes throughout the academic year.
• Manage physical education equipment responsibly and report any damages.
• Communicate professionally with school staff and parents regarding student progress.
• Engage actively in professional development opportunities as a member of the SPARK Schools team.
• Exhibit professionalism at all SPARK Schools events and towards all stakeholders.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Experience working with primary school-aged children and a background in physical education or related training.
• Preferred: Enrollment in a degree program in Human Movement or Sport Science.
• Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in English, police clearance certificate, Grade 12 Certificate, SACE registration, and preferably in the latter stages of a degree in Human Movement or Sport Science.
