Description
- Detailed Description
Interpret the technical scope of critical projects (related to the built environment), and oversee quality output (from design to testing/commissioning) according to agreed user requirement specifications (URSs) or the real estate strategy of the SARB.
- Coordinate preventative and corrective maintenance in the systems or equipment, and report on predictive subsystem failure, to enhance system capability (using proactive preventative techniques).
- Critically interpret WIs and drawings concerning construction, alterations/modifications, enhancement maintenance and specialist projects.
- Consult or engage stakeholders towards the drawing or preparation of URSs and/or scope of work (SOW) for project and maintenance of firerelated systems/equipment.
- Work closely with external engineering contractors and supporting specialists towards optimisation of technology and enhancements of system efficiencies through service level agreements (SLAs).
- Manage the installations of fire protection systems which include sprinkler systems, gas suppression, and waterbased suppression systems.
a National Diploma in Engineering;
- registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA); as Fire Protection System Practitioner and
- at least five years of job-related experience after obtaining professional registration.
Additional requirements include:
- accreditation by the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA);
- working experience in all local fire safety codes for code-compliant fire safety designs and projects, including (but not limited to) the South African National Standards (SANS);
- working experience in international codes and standards to carry out rational fire designs, including (but not limited to) the British Standards (BS), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), European Norm (EN) and International Fire Engineering Guidelines (IFEG);
- knowledge of:
- the National Building Regulations (NBR);
- safety-related legislation, regulations and standards, including (but not limited to) the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993 (OHS Act);
- design tools/packages like AutoCAD and Revit draughting;
- a document management system (e.g. AutoDesk BIM360); and
- skills in:
- analysis and problem-solving;
- judgement and decision-making;
- system analysis;
- planning, coordinating and organising;
- critical thinking;
- verbal and written communication;
- team dynamics; and
- client focus and stakeholder management.
