De Doorns Cellar, a renowned wine producer situated in the heart of Western Cape's wine


General Manager duties:
*Provide strategic leadership and direction to achieve company objectives and financial targets *Oversee day-to-day operations of the winery, including staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation *Develop and execute marketing and sales strategies to promote De Doorns Cellar wines and expand market reach *Foster positive relationships with distributors, buyer and industry stakeholders to drive sales growth and brand recognition *Implement and maintain stringent quality, safety, and environmental standards across all operations *Lead and mentor staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, excellence, and continuous improvement.


Winemaking duties:
*Direct and supervise all aspects of winemaking processes, from grape intake to delivery of bulk and a limited quantity of bottled wines, whilst maintaining high standards of quality and consistency *Develop and implement innovative winemaking techniques to enhance product portfolio and meet consumer demands *Manage cellar operations, including fermentation, aging, blending, and quality control procedures, including cellar maintenance *Collaborate with producers and grape growers to ensure the procurement of top-quality grapes for winemaking *Conduct regular tasting evaluations to monitor wine quality and make necessary adjustments.


Essential qualifications, skills and experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in Viticulture/Oenology/Food Science, or related field (Advanced degree preferred);
  • Proven experience as a Winemaker, with a track record of producing awardwinning wines;
  • Minimum 58 years' experience in a leadership/management role, within the wine industry;
  • Indepth knowledge of winemaking processes, grape varieties, and vineyard management practices;
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills;
  • Proficiency in budgeting, financial analysis, and business management;
  • Passion for wine and a commitment to upholding the reputation and legacy of De Doorns Cellar.
