Introduction


Our client, an MSP based in Rivonia, is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solutions Architect to join their team.

As a Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for assisting the company maintain its position a leading MSP by designing technology solutions aligned with solving the customers business problems and the technical standards defined by the company.

At this MSP, Solution Architects are self-motivated individuals with strong interest in how technology can drive business efficiencies.

As a Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for assessing technology environments and building out new solutions to mitigate any failures and ensure business continuity.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Engaging with field sales to understand the customers business problems in the absence of the appropriate technology.
  • Assess new and existing technology environments.
  • Document audit findings
  • Design solution options to mitigate the technical cause and business problem.
  • Enable sales with technical advice and weekly product training.
Desired Experience & Qualification

Desired Skills

Thorough understanding of server architecture

  • Virtualisation and hypervisors
  • Hyper-V is a must.
  • VMWare would be an added bonus.


Designing and building server systems and being able to determine what type of compute is the best fit for the client needs.


  • Physical Servers
  • Private Cloud
  • Public Cloud
  • Cloud computing in Azure and AWS are advantageous.
Thorough understanding of networking

  • Switching and wireless and connectivity options
  • Design a switched network and understand wireless fundamentals.
  • Being able to design MPLS or SDWAN Wide Area networks is a must
Thorough understanding of security technologies.
- firewalling, VPN, web filtering, intrusion protection

  • EDR/MDR, mail filtering and secure access
  • Be able to explain the concepts of zero trust networking.
  • Fortinet knowledge advantageous
Thorough understanding of concepts relating to VoIP

  • SIP, Zero Touch Provisioning, call routing and IVR.
Thorough understanding of backup technologies and the different methods of backups

  • Understanding of Disaster Recovery and high availability necessary
  • Veeam and Cove Data Protection experience advantageous.
Thorough understanding of Microsoft 36- Extensive knowledge designing M365 tenants and deployments.

  • Exchange Online, teams, SharePoint are a must.
  • Azure and related technologies are advantageous.
Essential Requirements

  • Matric Certificate
  • BCom in Information Systems or Equivalent
  • BSc Computer Science or Equivalent
  • 5 years plus in a similar position Advantageous Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience at an MSP would be advantageous
