    Foreman I Supervisor (Opencast Mining)

    Job Summary:

    This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the execution of planned production activities in an open-pit mining environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in open-pit mining, including heavy equipment fleet management and mechanical aptitude.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations as set out in the mine's policies.
    • Maintain general tidiness and good housekeeping of site and other areas of responsibility.

    Mining Operations:

    • Execute planned production activities to ensure targets are achieved.
    • Conduct pre-shift meetings and inspect work areas to identify potential risks.
    • Oversee dump control, load and hauling operations, and loading areas.
    • Manage administrative tasks related to mining operations.

    Desired Experience & Qualification

    • National Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification.
    • A valid driver's license is mandatory.
    • An open pit blasting or rock breaking certificate is required.
    • Competency A / Legal Liability certification is necessary.
    • A minimum of 5 years' experience in an open-pit mining environment is essential.
    • A minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience is required.
    • Proven experience with open-pit heavy equipment fleet and open-pit operations, with a mechanical inclination.
    • Previous experience with loading and hauling in an open-pit mining environment is advantageous.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are necessary.
    • The ability to pass a medical examination / Dover as required by the designated mines is mandatory.
    • Self-management and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.
