Position Overview:


The Unit Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of a large-scale catering operation, ensuring the efficient and smooth running of the dining room, cafe, frail care, and assisted living.

This role requires strong leadership, organization, and customer service skills to deliver high-quality catering services while meeting financial and operational targets.


Key Responsibilities:


Operations Management:


  • Plan, coordinate, and execute all catering events, ensuring timely delivery of services and adherence to client specifications.
  • Oversee the preparation and presentation of food to maintain quality standards and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and maintain proper stock levels to support catering activities.
  • Monitor equipment and ensure proper maintenance, promptly addressing any malfunctions or issues.

Team Leadership:


  • Recruit, train, and supervise catering staff, including chefs, servers, and support personnel.
  • Foster a positive work environment, encouraging teamwork and providing guidance to achieve exceptional service standards.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement development plans to enhance staff skills and performance.

Client Relations:


  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and preferences to provide personalized catering solutions.
  • Collaborate with clients to plan menus, estimate costs, and customize services according to event requirements.
  • Handle client feedback and concerns promptly and professionally, aiming to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.

Budgeting and Financial Management:


  • Develop and manage budgets for catering operations, ensuring costeffective practices and meeting revenue targets.
  • Monitor expenses and analyze financial data to identify areas for improvement and costsaving opportunities.
  • Prepare regular financial reports and forecasts to inform decisionmaking.

Food Safety and Quality Control:


  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, hygiene standards, and health codes in all catering activities.
  • Implement quality control measures to maintain consistent food preparation and presentation.

Marketing and Business Development:


  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and execute catering promotions and strategies to attract new clients and retain existing ones.
  • Attend networking events, trade shows, and industry gatherings to promote the catering unit and build a strong professional network.

Requirements:


  • Proven experience (typically 35 years) in catering management or a similar role.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Customerfocused mindset with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Indepth knowledge of food safety regulations and catering industry best practices.
  • Sound financial acumen and experience in budgeting and cost control.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends and evenings, to accommodate catering events.
