    Description

    A Registered Nurse – Advanced Midwife position exists at Life Carstenhof Hospital, reporting to the Unit Manager. The ideal candidate will provide holistic patient care and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

    Critical Responsibilities

    • Provide comprehensive prenatal care to antenatal and postnatal patients and babies.
    • Adhere to Mother and Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative Policies and Procedures to support breastfeeding.
    • Maintain a safe and healthy environment by enforcing infection control and adhering to SHEQ protocols.
    • Promote a safe working environment by completing incident reports.
    • Manage resources effectively by being flexible with working hours based on activity and acuity.
    • Optimize stock management by ensuring accurate and timely charging.
    • Evaluate equipment functionality and report any issues.
    • Educate staff on equipment utilization.
    • Ensure patient documentation is comprehensive and defensible.
    • Provide health education to patients and family members.
    • Employ gentle principles in managing patient experiences.
    • Implement preventative measures to minimize risk.
    • Nurture effective relationships with stakeholders by identifying preferences and needs.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential records.

    Requirements

    • Relevant degree or diploma in Nursing with Midwifery.
    • Postgraduate diploma in Advanced Midwifery.
    • ESMOE training.
    • Recent experience in maternity nursing.
    • Current registration with relevant professional body.
    • Understanding of private healthcare industry an advantage.
    • Computer proficiency.
    • Ability to work under pressure.
