    Senior Administrative Officer: Library Facilities

    In pursuit of excellence and diversity, the University of Pretoria invites applications for this key role.

    About the Role

    The incumbent will be responsible for:

    • Managing and supervising the library facilities unit;
    • Contributing to strategic processes on behalf of the unit;
    • Maintaining the Department's buildings, facilities, and equipment;
    • Ensuring our spaces are welcoming, safe, and compliant;
    • Monitoring and coordinating the work of external service providers;
    • Ensuring the Departmental facilities comply with regulatory provisions;
    • Participating in facility-related projects;
    • Coordinating Occupational Health and Safety processes and activities;
    • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders;
    • Financial and Asset Management.

    Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will have:

    • Expert knowledge of spoken and written communication skills;
    • Computer Literacy;
    • Financial Literacy;
    • Report writing;
    • Communication skills;
    • Supervisory skills;
    • Ability to work independently and under pressure;
    • Proactive attitude;
    • Ability to manage time effectively;
    • Attention to detail;
    • Multi-tasking abilities.

    Requirements

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • Three years' relevant National Diploma PLUS three years' experience preferably in an academic environment;
    • Two years' supervisory experience in a facilities environment AND;
    • A valid driver's licence OR;
    • Matric PLUS five years' experience preferably in an academic environment AND;
    • Three years' supervisory experience in a facilities environment AND;
    • A valid driver's licence.

    Added Advantages

    The following qualifications and experiences are advantageous:

    • A degree and experience in an academic environment;
    • First Aid, Firefighting, and any related training;
    • Project management experience;
    • Knowledge of statutory regulations related to facilities and Health & Safety.
