The Role

We are currently seeking a talented Functional General Manager to lead the Urban Development function group in South Africa.

The purpose of this position is to develop, lead, operate and grow the function group business within SMEC South Africa.

Responsibilities:

The Functional General Manager will be responsible for the following business outcomes:

Provide leadership to the function group and develop and grow the business nationwide.
Responsible for business development, proposals and responsibility for tendering for the function group.
Responsible for budgeting and the profitability of the function group.
Ensure alignment with the strategic objectives of the company.
Responsible for the allocation and management of resources nationwide to ensure high productivity and utilisation.
Responsible for promoting the business interests of the company within South Africa and globally.
Drive a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
Ensure strict compliance to SMEC's Business Management System, quality standards and SHEQ procedures and objectives.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required

Bachelor of Engineering degree/higher degree from accredited university/college
Minimum of years of relevant experience in the sector
Experience in senior engineering management and/or senior design management positions within a multidisciplinary environment.
Proven track record in commercial management, business development, proposals and tendering.
Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills.
Good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a culturally diverse and multidisciplinary environment.
Excellent knowledge of webbased project costing and financial systems (BST).
