My Client, a leading and well-known company based in Maitland requires a competentand experienced Senior Quality Inspector to join their team.


REQUIREMENTS
Matric, with Mathematics and Natural Science

Ability to read and understand Mechanical drawings, Specifications,

Must be familiar with and able to use Measuring Instruments such as: Micrometers, Vernier Gauges, Go-NO-Go gauges, Dial indicators, electronic measuring equipment

  • Ability to lead and direct team of inspectors
Minimum of 3 years Supervisory experience in high Precision Mechanical Manufacturing within a QA laboratory and testing environment.

  • Good understanding of geometry, working methods within the QA standards room, calibration requirements and standards +/2 years
English and Afrikaans speaking

SA Citizens only

Must be Criminal Clear

Nust reside in the Greater Cape Town area or be willing to relocate


RESPONSIBILITIES
Carrying out first off inspection checks on submitted work.

Carrying out material clearance prior to issue to the shop floor.

Ensuring that final inspection is carried out in accordance with relevant work instructions;
Raising internal reject notes when non-conforming products is identified.

Authority to reject non-conforming items awaiting management decision on rework/scrap.

Coordinate daily activities of QC personnel and ensure adherence to company quality standards.

Checking for completeness and sign off daily QC timesheets

Arrange the QC personnel weekly shift schedule.

  • To carry out patrol inspection on relevant documentation and components.
  • Ensuring that final inspection is carried out in accordance with relevant work instructions.
  • Raising internal reject notes when nonconforming products is identified.
  • To inspect components with precision electronic equipment (Smart scope, Starret etc);
Conduct products environmental tests according customer requirements or relevant standards i.e. jumble, jolt, vibration, propagation, waterproofness.

Training inspectors and QC viewers on all metrology equipment and gauging.

Conduct SAP transactions for inspection lots and scrap movements.

  • Standin for gauge technician when absent and ensure the gauges are setup correctly to requirements and issued to production.
To conduct internal audit of inspection process.

Pro-actively reduce non-quality by monitoring product within the inspection criteria with quick feedback

  • Use of quality tools e.g. quick response, capability studies etc. to reduce reoccurrence of nonconforming product.
  • Timeously feedback to production on quality problems per component.
Achieve daily inspection tasks as delegated to departmental staff.

Pro-actively engage with production team leaders to minimize non-conforming products

Ensure all equipment/gauges are suitably maintained according to specification.

Identifying bottle necks within the department with corrective measures

Ensure rotational system for inspectors and viewers for skill enhancement

  • Continually improve the inspection process and data.
Assistance with part investigation with recorded analysis
