Description
HR & Admin Officer responsibilities include processing employee data, updating company policies and assisting in the hiring process. To be successful in this role, you should have solid organizational skills and be familiar with HR functions.

Skills requred

  • Min of grade 12, HR Certification is highly beneficial.
  • 35 years' experience in HR or related field.
  • Experience in dealing with CCMA and unions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in English (speak read & write) on an intermediate level.
  • Good Conflict Management skills.
  • Proficient in English writing and speaking.
  • Good decisionmaking/negotiation skills with a talent for mediation.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work.
  • Strong admin, organizational and planning skills.
  • Sound knowledge of labour law and disciplinary procedures
  • Employment Equity and Skills Development Planning. experience essential.
  • Discretion


  • Computer literacy

  • Intermediate Microsoft Outlook, word, and basic Excel.
Duties & Responsibilities

  • Organize and maintain personnel records,
  • Update internal databases (e.g. record sick or maternity leave).
  • Prepare HR documents, like employment contracts and new hire guides.
  • Create regular reports and presentations on HR metrics (e.g. Employment Equity Report, ERS Reports).
  • Assist payroll department by providing relevant employee information (e.g. leaves of absence, sick days, and work schedules).
  • Manage the ERS Biometric system.
  • Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Revise company policies.
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation, and preservation of human capital.
  • Participate in HR projects (e.g. help organize employee wellness events).
  • Nurture a positive working environment.
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues.
  • Answer employees' queries about HRrelated issues.
  • Manage the recruitment and selection process.
  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance, monitors and update job descriptions.
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.
  • Liaise with external partners, like insurance vendors, and ensure legal compliance.
  • Manage the order and issue of Staff Uniforms.
  • Liaise with the Safety manager regarding employee injury on duty and COIDA submissions.
