    Job Purpose

    To realise the detailed design through programming and configuration, and to provide guidance and mentoring to other software developers.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop high-quality software that meets design specifications.
    • Create critical and complex technical components within area of expertise.
    • Design system components that are robust, fault-tolerant, and scalable for large complex systems.
    • Ensure system component designs are supportable, maintainable, and reusable.
    • Deliver observable and scalable software solutions.
    • Conduct thorough estimates of work effort.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve software issues, providing guidance to team members.
    • Produce documentation according to organisational standards.
    • Foster continuous improvement of software solutions.
    • Provide maintenance and support for software in designated environments.
    • Develop unit and system test cases, and conduct thorough testing.
    • Create deployment artefacts and store them in source control libraries.
    • Manage deployment packages and their execution.
    • Optimise tool changes in collaboration with Biz/Dev/Ops Engineers.
    • Update and maintain the asset knowledge base.
    • Ensure integration of own work with other individuals and teams.
    • Collaborate with designers, product owners, and engineering leads to refine solutions.
    • Contribute to decomposing system solutions into component parts for development.
    • Support the achievement of business strategy, objectives, and values.
    • Stay up-to-date with developments in field of expertise.
    • Evaluate personal growth and effectiveness in performing roles and responsibilities.
    • Contribute to initiatives that build the Nedbank Culture (e.g. staff surveys).
    • Participate in and support corporate responsibility initiatives to achieve business strategy.
    • Seek opportunities to improve business processes, models, and systems using agile methodologies.
    • Provide mentorship to multiple software developers.

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.

    Preferred Qualification:

    • Diploma or certificate in multiple languages.

    Preferred Certifications:

    • Certificate in relevant language where available.

    Minimum Experience Level:

    • At least 3 years of programming experience.

    Technical / Professional Knowledge:

    • IT data structures.
    • Application systems.
    • Agile Development.
    • System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
