About the role:


Key responsibilities:

• Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan that aligns with our mission and values, focusing on increasing access to finance for the underserved population.
• Identify new market opportunities, partnerships, and potential revenue streams to drive the organization's growth and impact.
• Forge strong connections with rural communities in the Eastern and Western Cape, understanding their needs, challenges, and aspirations related to financial products and services.
• Collaborate with community leaders, government officials, and local organizations to establish trust, credibility, and mutually beneficial relationships.
• Utilize indepth knowledge of the financial sector in South Africa to create suitable and efficient financial products and services that cater to the unique needs of our target group.
• Lead by example, fostering a culture of honesty, transparency, and ethical behaviour throughout the organization.
• Build and lead over time a diverse, collaborative, and intrinsically motivated team with a culture that encourages accountability and continuous learning.
• Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation to achieve sustainable growth and maintain a balance between social impact and operational efficiency.

Eligibility criteria:

• A minimum of 7 years of leadership experience, ideally in the financial services sector, microfinance, or community development.
• Master's degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field (MBA preferred but not essential).
• South African citizenship or residence.

Key competencies:

• Demonstrated understanding of the challenges faced by rural communities in South Africa and the ability to empathize with their needs.
• Strong business acumen, with a track record of driving successful strategies and achieving results.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Resilience and adaptability to navigate complex social and economic landscapes.

Working conditions and benefits:

• This is a fulltime position based out of Cape Town with initial lending activities being rolled

- out within the Eastern and Western Cape.

• We offer a competitive salary and benefits package and the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment.
• While carrying out your responsibilities, you will have the backing of a small team at the holding level. Most of this support will be provided remotely, with direct assistance available from the Group COO, who is situated in Cape Town.
