Maintain Plant and Equipment in the Automotive Sector

Key Responsibilities:

• Scheduled Maintenance: Receive maintenance schedules, plan, and execute tasks in a safe and efficient manner.
• Inspect Tools and Determine Spare Requirements: Regularly inspect tooling to determine spares and consumables needed.
• Generate Job Requisitions: Prepare job requisitions for scheduled maintenance work, including type of repair or maintenance, spares, quantities, time, etc.
• Transport Equipment and Spares: Transport tools, equipment, and spares to the work site.
• Isolate Equipment and Make Work Area Safe: Isolate equipment, perform lockouts, complete LOTO registers, and make the work area safe.
• Conduct Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance activities to prevent breakdowns.
• Changeovers in Production Environment: Assist with changeovers in the production environment.
• Count Stock for Integrity Check: Count stock for a stock take integrity check to ensure spares are in good condition.
• Record Scheduled Maintenance: Record all scheduled maintenance activities in the Maintenance Connection system to aid in prolonging equipment life and preventing unplanned maintenance.
• Cleanliness: Maintain a clean workshop and work area, adhering to 5S standards.
• Plant Start-ups: Plan plant start-ups well in advance to ensure the plant is ready for production.
• Daily Hours Tracking: Track and record personal daily hours to achieve a KPA artisan utilization rate of at least 75%.

Maintenance Process (Breakdown):

• Attend to Machine Breakdowns: Address mechanical/electrical breakdowns on equipment under engineering control.
• Update Responsible Person: Keep the responsible person informed about repair progress.
• Escalate Problems: Escalate problems/breakdowns to the next level if resolution is unsuccessful.
• Record Breakdowns: Record all breakdowns in the Maintenance Connection system to determine root causes and calculate KPI data accurately.

Electrical Maintenance:

• Design and Construct Circuits: Design and construct single/three-phase circuits.
• Install Electrical Wireways: Install electrical wireways.
• Construct and Commission Low Voltage Networks: Construct, commission, and fault-trace low-voltage reticulation networks.
• Install/Replace Electrical Equipment: Install or replace and commission electrical equipment, including lighting systems, electrical cables, conductors, earth leakage units, metering units, transformers, batteries, and electrical wire ways.
• Wire and Commission Three-Phase Circuits: Wire and commission three-phase electrical circuits.
• Inspect and Clean Electrical Machines: Inspect and clean electrical machines, enhanced safety apparatus, electrical motors, and other related equipment.
• Test and Inspect Industrial/Commercial Installations: Test and inspect three-phase industrial/commercial installations.
• Inspect and Maintain Electrical Equipment: Inspect and maintain electrical distribution boards, panels, enclosures, intrinsically safe apparatus, lighting systems, high mast lighting structures, batteries, battery rooms, unit protection devices, AC or DC drive units, electric power tools, and other related equipment.
• Replace Electrical Equipment: Replace faulty electrical cables and components in distribution boards, three-phase electrical motors between 5.5 kW and 75 kW.
• Fault Find and Repair Domestic Appliances and Single-Phase Systems: Fault find and repair domestic appliances and single-phase alternating current systems.
• Disconnect and Connect Electric Motors: Disconnect and connect electric motors safely.
• Handle and Care for Electrical Earthing Gear: Handle and care for electrical earthing gear and related equipment.
• Joint Low-Voltage Cables: Joint low-voltage cables safely.
• Troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers: Troubleshoot programmable logic controllers and resolve issues efficiently.

Fabrication:

• Cut, Drill, Punch, and Assemble Materials: Mechanically cut, drill, punch, and assemble fabrication materials using powered machinery.
• Oxy-Fuel Gas Cutting: Cut materials using the oxy-fuel gas cutting process manually.
• Join Metals Using Resistance Welding: Join metals using the resistance welding process.
• Weld Workpieces: Weld workpieces using various processes, such as oxy-acetylene welding, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, and gas tungsten arc welding.
• Remove Metals Using Oxy-Fuel and Air-Carbon Arc Gouging: Remove metals using oxy-fuel and air-carbon arc gouging processes safely and efficiently.

Instrumentation Maintenance:

• Construct Basic Electronic Circuits: Construct basic electronic circuits for instrumentation equipment.
• Install Instrument Impulse Lines: Install instrument impulse lines safely.
• Maintain Instrumentation Equipment: Maintain instrumentation equipment, including flow, level, pressure, temperature, and intrinsically safe apparatus.
• Solder and De-Solder Procedures: Carry out soldering and de-soldering procedures for instrumentation equipment.

Maintenance Process (Post Maintenance):

• Test and Commission Machinery/Equipment: Test and commission machinery or equipment before handover.
• Complete Planned Maintenance Schedule: Complete the Planned Maintenance Schedule-Maintenance Connection form, including work completed, spares used, spares not available, time taken, observations, problems, etc.
• Identify Additional Work Required: Identify any other work required, including additional spares, and communicate to the Planner/Buyer.
• Clean Up After Completion: Clean up after completion of the job and inform the responsible person that the maintenance has been completed to the required standard.

Material Handling:

• Sling Loads: Safely sling loads using proper techniques.
• Operate Cranes/Hoists: Operate cranes/hoists safely and efficiently.
• Operate Forklifts: Operate forklifts safely and within established guidelines.

Project Planning:

• Schedule Project Activities: Schedule project activities to facilitate effective project execution.
• Monitor, Evaluate, and Communicate Project Schedules: Monitor, evaluate, and communicate project schedules to stakeholders.

Project Management:

• Manage Project Risk: Contribute to the management of project risk within own field of expertise.
• Supervise Project Teams: Supervise project teams of technical projects when requested.
• Assist in Project Execution: Assist within the project in the field of your expertise.

Project Administration:

• Support Project Meetings: Support project meetings and workshops when required.

Continuous Improvement:

• Participate in Continuous Improvement Drives: Participate in continuous improvement drives to enhance efficiency and quality.

Reporting:

• Complete Maintenance Time Sheets: Complete maintenance time sheets, including nature of work, time spent to repair, and material/spares used.
