    **Senior Operator (Melt Shop) Position Available**

    Airport Industria, Cape Town

    We are seeking skilled professionals to join our Meltshop Department at SA Steelworks.

    The selected candidates will be required to undergo a skills test with an average score of 70% for consideration.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Perform basic mathematical calculations to ensure accurate process parameters.
    • Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain machinery/stands/mechanisms in the production line process.
    • Conduct daily inspections of relevant work areas and report any possible failures or unsafe working conditions.
    • Maintain standard machine operating procedures when operating machinery.
    • Ensure general maintenance and cleaning of assigned work areas/workstations.
    • Enforce and practice housekeeping policies.
    • Monitor production processes effectively.
    • Analyze potential failures and communicate solutions promptly.
    • Ensure thorough shift handovers and report all issues clearly on a daily basis.
    • Adhere to regulations as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Company policies.
    • Perform quality control according to set standards.

    Qualifying Criteria:

    • Maturity Certificate (Mathematics compulsory).
    • Diploma or pursuing a qualification in Engineering.
    • Computer literacy.
    • Strong knowledge of machinery.
    • Able to detect machine discrepancies.
    • Previous experience operating FEL/Forklift/Grab is advantageous.
    • Experience working in the steel industry is advantageous.
    • Able to work under pressure in a demanding environment.
    • Willingness to work overtime and shifts.
    • Compliance with Health & Safety rules and regulations.
    • Good communication skills.
    • In good health and physically fit.
