A Travel Technology company based in Cape Town is looking for a People Operations Specialist to join their People team.

Working closely with the Head of People in the Cape Town office, this is an exciting opportunity to be a key player in helping to build a world-class people operations function.

The People Operations Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day people operations tasks and efficiencies across the various touch points of the employee journey, including onboarding, offboarding, and all the touch points in between.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES, NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Be the first point of contact for all employee enquiries and requests, providing exceptional support through various channels
  • Consistently and seamlessly executing daytoday people operations tasks, including but not limited to contract management, payroll, benefits, leave administration, etc
  • Coordinate onboarding processes and programmes, and play an active role in initiating scalable changes and improvements to drive a worldclass onboarding programme
  • Maintaining precise records and managing people data to ensure compliance with regulations and minimise risk; this includes tasks related to Employment Equity, WSP/ATR, and other people compliance matters
  • Contribute to the development of people policies/guidelines and procedures that will aid performance, help the business scale, and maintain the company culture.
  • Assist in managing employee relations issues in accordance with labour law and company guidelines
  • Support recruitment efforts by coordinating fullcycle recruitment activities; this may include assisting with sourcing, screening, coordinating interview processes, reference checks, and offer management as needed
  • Coordinate training and development programmes and take care of the daytoday management of the associated processes
  • Assist in executing employee wellness initiatives and contribute to people event planning and coordination
  • Identify and drive process improvements (onboarding, performance review systems, feedback loops, training, etc) that keep the employee experience and teams' mission at the fore
  • Analyse data and key insights from people operations and organisational development processes to inform decision making and enhance the employee experience

BACKGROUND

  • Graduate Degree or Diploma in Human Resource Management/Organisational Psychology is preferred
  • 2+ years of relevant working experience in an HR/People Administrator role, preferably in a fastmoving, dynamic Tech company
  • Experience using an HRIS system such as BambooHR
  • Proficient in the company operating systems, which include Google Workspace and Slack, or a proven ability to learn new systems quickly
  • A solid understanding of South African labour law and compliance requirements
  • Ability to manage multiple and constantly shifting priorities
  • Familiarity with employee engagement research, performance management systems, and training and development. However, a keen researcher and explicator of key insights will do.
  • Must be a wellbalanced facilitator and strong communicator who does not shy away from any question
  • Must be someone who wants to learn and grow over time, and who is also willing and able to deal with the administrative side of the role
