Role Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting senior attorneys in managing a diverse caseload of commercial litigation matters.
- Conducting legal research and analysis on various legal issues relevant to ongoing cases.
- Drafting and reviewing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests.
- Participating in client interviews and meetings to gather information and develop case strategies.
- Assisting in the preparation for depositions, hearings, trials, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
- Reviewing and organizing large volumes of documents, electronic data, and evidence.
- Staying up to date with legal developments, changes in legislation, and court rulings relevant to commercial litigation.
- Providing general support to senior attorneys and performing other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- LLB Degree and strong academic credentials
- Admission as an Attorney in South Africa
- Minimum of 12 years PQE as a litigation attorney, with a focus on complex commercial litigation
- Familiarity with legal research databases, such as LexisNexis.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
