Multi Award Winning Garden Nursery Stodels is looking for a dynamic and knowledgeable
Nursery Horticulturist to assist the team at our
Bergvliet Garden Centre.

The position will report directly to the
Nursery Manager.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To be responsible and accountable for maintaining the standards and achieve the profitability of the particular category within the Nursery.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

To complete your staffs KPA's
To ensure stock levels in your category are correct
To be responsible for ordering of stock for your category
To be responsible for your categories standards (quality, watering, weeding, plant care)
To be responsible for write offs (to be done daily and within budget)
Ensure that each and every customer receives superior service and that a high level of product information is available on request.
Ensure that all price boards are neatly displayed and up to date.
Negotiate better prices with branch suppliers
To be responsible for implementation of any specials/promotions that affects your category
Manage, train and develop your staff (consultants, horticulturalists and assistants)
Ensure that all Sales Consultants have been equipped with the necessary training and procedure manuals and that they receive job related questions on a regular basis.
Perform any other tasks as required by Management to ensure the continued smooth operation of the Nursery and to meet the company aim of high standards and high customer service.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT:

Develop and train all other staff regularly on all aspects of Nursery work and the company by providing regular feedback whenever possible.
Expected to be familiar with the Stodels Introduction Booklet, Customer Service Policy and the Code of Conduct as updated from time to time.
Expected to undergo job related training from time to time.
Excellent plant knowledge
2 years horticulture experience
Diploma in Horticulture advantageous
Basic supervisory skills
Passion for retail customer service
Strong communication skills
Good negotiation skills
Must be self motivated, assertive and have high energy levels
