Description
This person will be responsible to install and maintain wiring, control and lighting systems. Inspect electrical components such as transformers and circuit breaks. Identify electrical problems using a variety of testing devices.

Repair or replace wiring, equipment or fixtures using hand tools and power tools; liaise with the Plant Supervisor to implement specific instructions; perform maintenance activities.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts routine inspections of plant and equipment
  • Undertake minor repairs to pumps and equipment
  • Design; install; maintain; repair; test and construct electrical assemblies
  • Troubleshoot high voltage electrical systems, controls and related process equipment
  • Provide technical support for other work groups
  • Undertake preventative maintenance on plant equipment as per the prescribed maintenance programme
  • Perform manual operations and process interventions as per the prescribed operating procedures
  • Accurate recordkeeping of plant interventions and activities for future reference, including log sheets, incident and shift reports
  • Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines (Occupational Health & Safety Act)
  • Participate in the development of policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures; make recommendations for changes and improvements to existing standards and procedures
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives
  • Identify ways to improve efficiency and plant operation cost effectiveness
  • Respond appropriately and decisively during plant emergencies
  • Carry out specific tasks & instructions as directed by the Supervisor
  • Assist with coordination of activities of thirdparty contractors to minimize disruption of plant processes
  • Ensure total confidentiality of all information, internal and external, pertaining to the business of the Company
  • REQUIRED COMPETENCE:
  • NQF level 4 qualification (Matric) and NQF levels (N3) Electrical Engineering
  • Wireman's License
  • Registered with the Department of Labour
  • Three or more years of experience in water treatment and/or biogas plant operation
  • Required to work outside normal working hours, shifts, during emergencies and planned overtime
  • Required to work in all weather conditions
  • Be responsible, reliable and work independently
  • Good problemsolving abilities
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Valid Drivers' Licence (code EB)
