This is a great opportunity for a commercially minded individual with excellent numerical skills and a flair for customer service.

You will have a pro-active, can-do attitude which you'll combine with a keen eye for detail and great people skills.

You will report into the Financial Manager and support the Operations, Finance and Business Development teams in the SA as well as our Global office network.

Costing Assistant gather and analyze data to estimate the amount of money, time, materials, and labor required to complete a Job, provide a service.

Their job is to provide realistic estimates to ensure a Job is completed on time and within budget.


Responsibilities

  • To maximize the profitability of jobs through thorough review of the estimated costs and by accurately pricing Customer jobs
  • To scrutinize supplier invoice discrepancies, identify the root causes, take corrective actions to resolve matters, and report the findings to the business
  • To raise Customer invoices in a timely manner.
  • Collaborating with operations and sales teams.
  • Consulting with industry experts to discuss cost estimates
  • Identifying and quantifying all cost factors involved.
  • Using computer software to calculate cost estimates.
  • Preparing and presenting cost reports for clients.
  • Reviewing expenditure statements during all phases of the project.
  • Obtain material pricing and organize all the information necessary to create and submit proposals to clients
  • Use detailed spreadsheets and companyapproved formulas to calculate the projected costs of proposed projects
  • Review the estimated costs on jobs to ensure that they are complete and accurate, using Supplier tariffs where required
  • Ensure all jobs are accurately priced, according to the relevant tariffs, in a timely manner
  • Review the Gross Margin of individual jobs and consider the possible actions for any that are low margin to maximize profitability
  • Bring any low margin jobs, that cannot be resolved by sales price, to the attention of the Financial Manager.
  • Assist with quotations and completing the quote sheets for month end reporting
  • Sorting query discrepancies with Operations and followup to for completeness
  • Assisting in the Vaccine costing and uploading all PODs when required.

Skills, Experience and Education

  • Matric or equivalent
  • Proven experience of working within a pharmaceutical Logistics environment
  • Excellent customer service ethic and experience of building positive working relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers
  • Demonstrated experience of multitasking and managing competing business demands
  • Numerical proficiency and strong attention to detail
  • Intermediate level in Microsoft Excel and Word able to use standard formulas and analyses and present data using pivot tables, graphs and interested in developing these skills further
  • Strong commercial awareness and able to identify trends and cost saving opportunities

Desirable

  • Logistics, courier or freight forwarding experience
  • Finance Qualification
