Description

The Truck workshop department requires a committed, hardworking and reliable Semi-Skilled Technical Assistant to join their team.

The Assistant will be responsible for the following tasks, amongst others:

Able to performance basic maintenance, mechanical and technical tasks
Demonstrate appropriate knowledge of workshop safety
Remove and replace basic components/parts on a heavy duty vehicle with supervision
Able to understand all the functions of the components of a heavy duty vehicle
Be able to do basic diagnostic fault finding and assemblies on heavy duty vehicles
Housekeeping on a daily basis
General workshop duties i.e. maintaining the cleanliness of the workshop and tool store
Identify and able to select appropriate hand tools
Able to use basic power tools
Assisting Qualified Diesel Mechanics with various tasks as and when required

Qualifying Criteria:

Grade 1
Proven interest in obtaining a relevant qualification or suitable certification
Previous experience in a similar role
Previous experience in the same or similar role advantageous
Adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations
Physically fit (Strength to handle materials, tools and machines)
Sober habits

Qualifying Attributes

Hardworking and selfmotivated
Prepared to work overtime and weekends when required
Able to work in a team as well as independently
Honest and reliable
Must be willing and eager to learn
Ability to multitask and manage a demanding workload in a pressurised environment
Must be comfortable working in confined spaces
Physically mobile and energetic
Ability to follow rules
