Duties/Pligte

The incumbent advises on and ensures effective management, maintenance, and development of the website.

The incumbent should have expert knowledge of website content, website management, web and communication best practices, and must be experienced in using web

content management systems.

The web coordinator works closely with the branding and design team, the communication team, other web coordinators across the institution, and the Information

Technology Division.


Web ManagementTaking overall responsibility for the SU website, ensuring that high quality content is published, and that the website (and homepage specifically) is visually

*** appealing;Approving content uploaded by web contributors, and checking and approving events, notices, and news articles;- Consulting with stakeholders, assessing their marketing and communication needs, and providing best practice advice on optimally using the web as a marketing

***and communication tool;Participating in content planning within the Corporate Communication and Marketing Division, and offering advice on how to optimally use the web as a marketing

*** and communication tool;Participating in projects and initiatives directly related to the SU website, or where the SU website is a component.


Content ManagementConceptualising and creating new web pages, and preparing and uploading content to the website;- Evaluating and redesigning web pages and ensuring continuous improvement.


User SupportProviding content and front-end technical support to web contributors, troubleshooting and resolving website queries, or referring queries to internal specialists or

***service providers to be resolved.


Training and GovernanceCompiling and keeping protocols and best practice guides up to date;- Developing and presenting workshops for web contributors;- Developing and keeping virtual training material for web contributors up to date;- Providing input on the development of web-related policies, procedures, or regulations.


Analytics and ReportingUsing analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to track web usage;- Identifying trends and making changes to the website based on insights;- Setting up automated analytics reports for web contributors, drawing reports and compiling explanatory reports.


Benchmarking-Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes- Diploma, bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification (NQF 6) in communication, web design, and web development;- At least five years' experience in web management / web content management / digital communication;- Proven experience of working with web content management systems;- Expert knowledge of website content, website management, web best practices, and communication best practices;- Excellent writing skills in English;- The ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team;- The ability to listen to, understand and follow instructions, and the willingness to be proactive and self-reliant;- The ability to communicate clearly and confidently;- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills;- Meticulous, detail-orientated and self-motivated;- The ability to prioritise and manage time effectively for yourself and for projects;- Good decision-making skills: the ability to be objective and flexible, but decisive;- The ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation;- Good organisational and planning skills;- Extremely professional with high personal standards and the ability to produce work of a superior quality.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling- Relevant postgraduate qualification, such as communication, web design, web development, marketing, or project management;- Experience in using SharePoint and/or Drupal;- Web design / web development experience;- English editing skills;- Afrikaans writing and editing proficiency.
