    About the Role:

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Open Pit Mining Engineer to join our team at De Beers Group.

    Job Summary:

    The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing medium-term mine plans, ensuring effective and efficient extraction sequences and strategies aligned to available site resources and meeting technical constraints of the mine.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement medium-term mine plans, taking into account safety regulations, environmental requirements, and operational effectiveness.
    • Interpret and understand mine strategy and LoA plan to inform medium-term plans and Mine Activity Designs (MAD) to meet operation requirements.
    • Support Chief Mine Planner to deliver business requirements, including reviewing and optimizing medium-term mine plans.
    • Integrate production processes, activity durations, and operational performances into mine planning, forecasting, and budget processes.
    • Develop detailed mine plans, presentations, and reports to ensure required information and intelligence for the mine, business, and Group.
    • Recommend mining equipment and machinery based on mine plan requirements and operational effectiveness.
    • Maintain high proficiency in mine design and optimization software packages.
    • Support Chief Mine Planner with maintaining planning standards and audits compliance.
    • Review scheduled short-medium term open pit plans to ensure Annual and Quarterly plans are achievable.
    • Stay updated on mining industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
    • Enhance mine planning processes and operational efficiency.

    Requirements:

    • Degree in B.Eng. Mining/B.Sc
    • More than 5 years relevant experience, with site-based mining engineering experience in operations
    • Proficient knowledge in mine planning, superior understanding of mining systems and technical enablers, with track record of developing and implementing strategies
    • Extensive operational, technical, and mine planning experience, demonstrating successful application of mining engineering fundamentals
    • Proficiency in Deswik (CAD, Sched & LHS) or other relevant Open Pit Planning & Scheduling packages

    Salary Range:

    $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience
