Work Description
The Clinical Nurse Mentor will be part of a Team of support to provide a formal process of
professional support to Nursing Staff within General Practice, while encouraging self
- assessment, analytical and reflective skills, in accordance to the Clinical Mentor/Assessor
Guidance in a cluster of facilities.

Technical Work Responsibilities

  • Guide and support professional nurses implementing NIMART
  • Offer advice on clinical problems
  • Facilitate Case Discussions
  • Ensure good outcomes for quality of Care Indicators, ART, TB/HIV Integration, PMTCT
  • Perform Clinical Audits
  • Develop Quality Improvement Plans
  • Facilitate Training where possible
  • Ensure adherence to Guidelines and Best Practice
  • Document Lessons Learnt for future improvement of Programme
  • Cooperate with Health Systems Mentor to ensure delivery of comprehensive and
patient-friendly service

  • Keep up to date with developments in the field
Education

  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • Registration with South African Nursing Council
  • Extensive experience in HIV/AIDS treatment and care
  • NIMART, IMCI, QI, PMTCT and PULSA-PLUS/PC101 trained
Advantageous

  • Diploma in Clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment
Experience

  • At least 3 years' experience as a Nurse Mentor
  • 3 years General Practice experience or Specialist Area
  • 5 years' experience in working in a Primary Health Care setting
  • Extensive experience in HIV/AIDS and TB treatment and care
  • Experience in managing patients on ART
  • Updates in area(s) of Mentorship
  • Annual or 3 yearly as applicable
Advantageous

  • Quality Improvement training

Requirements:


  • Valid Driver's licence with Own car
  • SA Citizen or valid work permit to work in South Africa
  • Basic computer skills
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Minimal/Moderate/Excessive overnight travel (up to 30%) by land or air if required
  • Willing to work overtime
