    General Reinsurance, Cape Town Branch (a subsidary of General Reinsurance AG) is offering an opportunity for Segment Pricing Actuary in our Life Australia, UK, SA, Canada division.

    Key Responsibilities

    This role is for a technical pricing actuary withinour CUSAC Region which covers Canada, UK, Ireland, South Africa, Australia and theCaribbean. The ideal candidate willpossess strong technical skills, communication skills and an in-depth knowledgeof the Life Health insurance and reinsurance industry.

    Primaryresponsibilities across the CUSAC Region:

  • Pricing support in all types of business.
  • Support with tenders from existing and new clients.
  • Process reviews for actuarial pricing and monitoring.
  • Pricing reviews on existing business.
  • Review and assist with the development of Terms of Trade.
  • Qualifications & Experience

    Essential:

  • Qualified actuary with a minimum of 5-year experience.
  • Reinsurance pricing experience would be advantageous.
  • Prepared to work across multiple time zones.
  • Prepared to spend time outside of their home country as the role involves global travel.
  • Highly collaborative in working style & approach.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills that enables them to summarise complex information and present at conferences.
  • Exposure to mortality and morbidity experience studies.
  • Desired:

  • GGY Axis knowledge.
  • Actuarial modelling skills.
  • Statistical analysis including machine learning technique to support experience reviews.
  • Coding skills in VBA, SQL, R or other statistical coding environments.
  • An interest in analytics and modelling mortality/morbidity experience.
