Mechanical Electrical Plumbing Co-ordinator


OVERVIEW OF ROLE:


The MEP Co-ordinator is critical in the success of a construction project, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

The MEP Co-ordinator is expected to provide technical expertise throughout the construction process, manage a team of MEP engineers, coordinate with other members of the construction team, and oversee the work of contractors and subcontractors to ensure that all work is completed to the required quality standards.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Planning and Scheduling - of MEP services installations on multiple projects (draw up programmes and do updates).
  • Coordinate MEP services - from design, equipment submissions, long lead procurement, installation and commissioning.
  • Cost Management - work closely with the site-based QS to assist in quote adjudication, cost savings and certification;
  • Quality Control - Work closely with the site quality officer and services subcontractors to ensure the client specifications are understood, adhered to and rectified in the case of non-compliance.
  • Risk Management - Study, understand and review MEP drawings. Identify high risk areas/activities, formulate mitigation measures in advance with the assistance of services subcontractors and consultants.
  • Supervision - of MEP subcontractors/ MEP engineers ensuring programme, quality and cost are optimised. Chair services meetings and attend site/client meetings.
  • Documentation - Using BIM, document control regarding MEP.
  • Communication - Be the link between the services subcontractors, the consultants, the client and the team. Ensuring that all services stakeholders are aware of MEP activities, risks, issues, delays etc.
  • Commissioning - Plan, document, coordinate and execute the first 3 levels of commissioning as per ASHRAE. Coordinate and witness the final 2 levels.
  • Tenders - Assist with temporary electrical designs, adjudication of services subcontractors, generate technical methodologies and commissioning plans. Attend tender site visits for technical tenders.

ACADEMIC & TRADE QUALIFICATIONS:

BEng in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.

WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

5+ years' experience in the construction industry (main contracting/consulting/subcontracting)
