Primary Objective of the Role
To deliver strategic leadership, management oversight, and evaluation of diagnostic, educational, training, and research initiatives within the organization, ensuring comprehensive quality management and accreditation standards are met.
Core Responsibilities
- Engage in strategic planning as a member of the executive leadership team.
- Lead a Quality Assurance division focusing on compliance, health technology assessments, and accreditation protocols.
- Supervise educational and training operations while fostering partnerships with academic institutions.
- Cultivate robust relationships with regulatory health authorities and professional organizations.
- Direct strategies for research, development, and innovation.
- Oversee grant management to secure optimal funding for research and ensure compliance.
- Provide training to staff to achieve organizational performance goals.
- Manage both operational and capital budget allocations.
- Oversee intellectual property matters, including patents and royalties.
- Implement cutting-edge laboratory technologies aligned with business objectives.
Essential Qualifications
- MMed/FC Path certification
- Registration with HPCSA as a Pathology specialist
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in pathology or diagnostic infectious diseases
- At least 5 years in a senior management capacity within pathology or diagnostics
Preferred Qualifications
- Management certification
- Experience in higher education and university collaborations in South Africa
- Background in health research, quality assurance, and budget oversight
- Familiarity with health systems, ISO 15189 standards, epidemiology, and grant management
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and funding from donors
