Dispatch Manager
Requirements:
- National Senior Certificate
- Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management or Logistics advantageous
- 10 years' experience in a dispatch capacity within a shelving, and shopfitting environment
- Computer literacy
- Ability to work overtime
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily functioning of Dispatch Department and ensures efficient operations through planning and coordinating of daily work requirements
- Implement and maintain systems and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of Department
- Continuously reviews and optimises dispatch operations
- Negotiates SLA's with third party transporters
- Monitors and reports on transportation costs
- Implements and drives cost saving initiatives
- Oversees picking, packing of products and loading of vehicles
- Ensures vehicles are loaded in the prescribed manner to minimise the risk of damage in transit
- Calculates and controls load weight with transporters to ensure loads comply with weighbridge requirements
- Develops driver schedules to ensure efficient utilisation of the fleet
- Ensures all driver runs are operating effectively and meeting customer demands
- Monitors and tracks drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and proper driving practices
- Follow up with drivers to ensure all deliveries have been closed out timeously
- Escalates non conformances on vehicles to the fleet mechanic
- Ensures drivers maintain clean, safe and roadworthy vehicles at all times
- Plans and schedules timeous vehicle maintenance in order to minimise downtime and maintain schedules
- Maintains detailed records of vehicle inspections and services
- Ensures validity of vehicle licences and drivers' licences/permits
- Achieves optimum utilisation of the Department through the efficient management, coaching, training and mentoring of staff
- Monitors, manages and measures the performance and activities of the Dispatch team
- Manages in compliance with the company policies, procedures and OHS Act
- HR management of Dispatch department
- Provides prompt and effective response to all internal enquiries and requests
