    Senior Metallurgist: Mineral Processing Flotation

    Job Title: Senior Metallurgist - Mineral Processing Flotation

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Metallurgist to join our team in the Mineral Processing division.

    Main Purpose of the Job:

    To perform the role of metallurgist within the division, overseeing all activities and ensuring compliance with company guidelines.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Liaise with departments to ensure effective communication and coordination of tasks.
    • Process and report data according to company guidelines, with minimal input from the line manager.
    • Create plans and structure task achievements over a period of 1 week to 3 months.
    • Monitor consumable levels and expenses within the Mineral Processing division.
    • Evaluate results and interpret data.
    • Provide coaching and instruction on work procedures.
    • Manage, train, and direct subordinates in quality, testwork methodology, safety, and time management.
    • Meet company targets for turnover and quality.
    • Oversight of weekend test-work and monitoring of tests during weekends and public holidays, if required.
    • Assist with planning, setup, commissioning, and operation of flotation test work and lock cycle tests, Jameson tests.
    • Format, edit, and set up forms required to record laboratory test work results and associated data.
    • Ensure effective use of equipment and facilities with good housekeeping.
    • Adhere to quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
    • Perform other reasonable tasks assigned by the direct line manager.

    Specific Authorities:

    • Production
    • Quality Management System
    • Health and Safety
    • Cease use of equipment deemed a safety hazard or enter hazardous environments without necessary knowledge and protection, reporting to higher authority.
    • Cease work affecting quality (integrity) of services and report situation to higher authority.
    • Initiate formal improvement request upon deviation of system, possible improvements identified, or nonconformity recognized.
    • Refuse work damaging environment in an imminent and serious way and report such situation.

    Qualifications:

    • National Diploma or BSc in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Metallurgy.

    Experience:

    • Minimum 10 years in relevant field.

    Competencies:

    • Good people and communication skills, able to convey relevant details to stakeholders.
    • Reputation for driving projects to completion within specified timelines.
    • Ability to work fast and accurately with good time management skills.
    • Work neat and organized, maintaining equipment, files, and paperwork in place.
    • Unwavering work ethic, building trust in a courteous manner.
