Description

As a Magnetic Particle (MT) Technician, you will be responsible for conducting non-destructive testing (NDT) using magnetic particle inspection techniques to detect surface and near-surface flaws in ferromagnetic materials.

This role requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and proficiency in interpreting test results.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform magnetic particle inspections according to established procedures and specifications.
  • Set up and operate magnetic particle testing equipment, including yokes, prods, coils, and electromagnetic benches.
  • Interpret test results and evaluate indications to determine the presence, nature, location, and extent of discontinuities or defects.
  • Document inspection findings accurately and thoroughly, including recording parameters, equipment settings, and test results.
  • Collaborate with engineers, quality control personnel, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with inspection standards and specifications.
  • Maintain testing equipment in good working condition by performing routine maintenance and calibration as necessary.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures to minimize risks associated with magnetic particle testing.
  • Stay updated on industry standards, techniques, and best practices related to magnetic particle inspection.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certification in nondestructive testing preferred.
  • Certification as a Magnetic Particle Testing Technician in accordance with relevant standards (e.g., ASNT SNT-TC1A, ISO 9712).
  • Proven experience conducting magnetic particle inspections in industrial settings, preferably in manufacturing, aerospace, or automotive sectors.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and evaluating test results, including knowledge of defect detection and classification.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, and specifications (e.g., ASTM E1444, ASME Section V).
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to established safety protocols.
  • Physical ability to lift and move equipment, stand for extended periods, and work in various environmental conditions.
