Medical Aid rate based on principal member only)- To be confirmed- Advert Closing Date- 31/1/2023- Job PurposePerform general tasks for the Survival Centre ranging from assisting with preparation of instructional equipment and minor repairs of such equipment.

  • Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Grade 1 1 year working experience as lab assistant/ worker within Maritime Industry

Recommendations:


  • National Diploma: Maritime Studies or Marine engineering would be an advantage.
  • Onboard ship experience (minimum 2 years)
  • Valid Driver's license (code 8 minimum)
  • Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities
  • Assist with laying out of class material, setting up of equipment and other general preparations for classes/instructions/practicals
  • Assist during swimming pool activities inside the pool
  • Distribution of safety/survival related equipment i.e., overalls, life jackets, etc.
  • Administration
  • Storekeeping
  • Housekeeping
  • General minor maintenance
  • As is reasonably required by the Senior Academic Instructor as well as the HoD: Maritime Studies & Survival Centre.


  • Competencies

  • Language proficiency: institutional language policy shall apply
  • Sound interpersonal skills,
  • Good planning & organizational ability,
  • Computer literacy, e.g., Microsoft Office suite
  • Valid Driver's license
  • To be able to cope under pressure.
  • Medically Fit
  • Proficient Swimmer
