    Position Summary

    We are looking for an exceptional individual to drive further growth in our business, delivering research projects and insights on macroeconomics, structural reforms, and politics.

    Krutham Capital Markets and Political Economy practice provides ahead-of-the-market insights and advice to investors, C-Suite executives, and banks on South Africa's opportunities and risks from a macroeconomic, reform, and political perspective.

    The role will be extremely varied, requiring the candidate to track and analyse multiple topics, manage their time, and conduct ongoing research across sectors and issues.

    You will take day-to-day responsibility for client delivery of regular periodical research products, ad hoc research requests, and short- and long-term project work under the direction of the line Managing Director.

    Key Responsibilities

    The role involves ongoing research, writing reports, fast-paced briefing insights, and contributing to periodical publications. It also involves meetings with clients, maintaining relationships, and tracking stakeholders, including parliament, Nedlac, and similar bodies.

    You will support your line Managing Director in sales, onboarding clients, project management, and delivery. As a senior team member, you will undertake business development work, drawing on your existing networks and developing new ones.

    Collaborate and influence: Work alongside the research team to craft high-quality reports, policy briefs, and presentations that inform stakeholders.

    Engage with decision makers: Deliver expert advice and insights on political economy and policy issues to high-level decision-makers in public and private sectors.

    Research proposals and project development: Identify and contribute to new research proposals and projects to broaden the organisation's impact within the political economy and policy sectors.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Over seven years of work experience in macroeconomics, structural reform policy, public policy, or related fields. A strong understanding of structural reform policy issues on the macroeconomy and fluency in economic concepts.

    Experience project managing projects related to public policy and working with private and public sector clients. Experience writing proposals and undertaking business development, with existing networks with potential clients.

    A master's degree or higher in economics or a related field, with excellent writing, presentation, and debating skills. Excellent proficiency in Excel and some experience with modelling is an advantage.
