Reporting to the Food & Beverage leadership, Westin Cape Town Hotel is recruiting for a Mixologist to join our team Your creative flair and passion for beverage will lead your Bar team to superior beverage experiences for our guests.

With your expert knowledge, create innovative drinks and cocktails that explore the boundaries of flavours

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Diploma or certification in Hospitality management or its equivalent with formal bartending training
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the same position from a reputable restaurant and or 4 or 5star hotel property
  • Knowledge of wines, spirits and all alcoholic beverages
  • Desire and ability to train and develop staff
  • Maintains awareness of industry trends in service, product and presentation
  • Alcohol awareness and knowledge of responsible service
  • You must be proactive, adaptable team player who enjoys taking initiative to drive for results
  • Eager to learn & progress, responsible with the willingness to take ownership
  • To ensure proper mixing, blending, of drinks
  • People centric disposition
  • Ability to work within a pressurized environment
  • Ability to use Initiative and be proactive and selfdriven

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitors and manages the ordering of all beer, wine, spirits, and bar tools and equipment
  • Have full knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents, costing and preparation methods
  • Maintains stock, prepares, cures and stores all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables to ensure product quality
  • Drafts beer menu in coordination with Brewery staff
  • Ensure that appropriate stock/par level of all bar items is constantly maintained

  • Create and push the limits of what mixed drinks can be
  • Have great knowledge of alcohol and alcohol history
  • Use one's expert knowledge to create innovative drinks and cocktails that explore the boundaries of flavours
- part from bar operation, ensuring HACCP standards, SOP's, cleaning and all bar related work will be taken care by Mixologist and supervise

  • All special occasions and events will be taken care by and creating innovative cocktail, specials and recipes
  • Participation and acts as a mentor for all junior colleagues
  • Tries new methods, equipment's required, new products and generates ideas for creativity
  • Prepare all needs for larger groups, events and welcome drinks.
  • Keep bar records and files well updated
  • Monitor temperature records, recipes and daily availabilities up to date
  • Minimize and control breakages
  • Be creative and innovative during low seasons and high seasons to utilize revenue by implementing beverages, cocktails and Mocktails
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers and nonalcoholic selections designated glassware, garnishes, preparation method/time, ingredients, portion sizes, presentation and prices
  • Capable to conduct beverage inventories
