My client is seeking a Lab Information System Administrator to develop, maintain and continuously improve the laboratory information management system (LIMS) and to give support to internal (Satellite LABS) and external clients.

Qualifications and experience required:

BSC Chemistry/Microbiology (NQF7) or Diploma in Analytical Chemistry/Microbiology (NQF6) or Diploma in Information System/Technology (NQF6).
5 years' experience in a laboratory environment of which 3 years in using Labware LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) as an Administrator.
Knowledge of ISO 17025:2017.
Drivers licence

Responsibilities:

Plan for laboratory server, establish the system capacity needs for the laboratory server and report findings to the Manager Laboratory Support.
Develop, implement and maintain a backup system for laboratory server, ensure system availability.
Plan for new systems and upgrades, investigate and assess the requirements and prepare the specifications and ensure their effective implementation.
Ensure that policies and procedures are adhere to, plan and communicate shut downs to laboratory staff, liaise with IT department regarding server platform and network issue resolution.
Adhere to legislative policies, keep abreast of IT developments with regards to LIMS.
Adhere to the Accreditation System (ISO 17025:2017), create new laboratory methods within the LIMS including programming where necessary, develop and modify reports using report writing tools supplied by LIMS and link those to LIMS.
Ensuring the following: the receipt, logging and distribution of samples, issuing analytical reports.
Perform system health checks.
Develop, test and implement group policies for the laboratory server.
