    The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sports, Western Cape Government is seeking a skilled individual to manage financial transactions and supply chain processes for library materials.

    Main Responsibilities

    1. Process new orders on the relevant computer system;
    2. Receive and pay for library material;
    3. Complete payment advice and capture data information for payments on the relevant computer system;
    4. Transfer records of orders from the old financial year to the new financial year;
    5. Handle telephone queries regarding library material ordered, problems with deliveries or invoices, and reinstating orders;
    6. Control payment summary sheets against internal spreadsheets;
    7. Maintain monthly statistics of library material ordered;
    8. Assist with other staff duties as required and provide support during leave periods;
    9. Reconcile payment processing and maintain accurate filing and record-keeping systems.

    Required Skills and Experience

    A good understanding of Financial Management, Public Finance Management, and Supply Chain Management principles. Proven computer literacy in MS Office and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Ability to work independently and as part of a team is also required.

    Remuneration Package

    The successful candidate will receive a salary of R216 417 per annum (Salary level 5). In addition, qualifying employees may be eligible for service benefits, including medical assistance, housing assistance, and pension-fund contributions.

    Selection Process

    The selection process will be guided by the Employment Equity targets of the employing department. Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes, undergo criminal record vetting, and participate in practical assessments and interviews. Reference checks will include enquiries about disciplinary records and reasons for leaving previous employment.
