The Head of Department is an academic position whose main objective is to provide academic leadership through leading, managing and developing the department to ensure it achieves the highest possible standards of academic excellence.

The Head of Department reports to the Dean of Faculty of Information Technology


Minimum Requirements:


  • A Masters or equivalent qualification in Information Technology or related discipline
  • University teaching / professional experience will be an added advantage

Additional Requirements:


  • Demonstrate innovative thinking, teaching and learning skills
  • Good knowledge of technologies, such as Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data Analytics, as well as C-Sharp Programming.

Summary of Duties:


  • Develop and write study material.
  • Undertake administration and other academic duties assigned by the Dean of Faculty
  • Participate in research development.
  • Be willing to participate in curriculum development.
  • Manage workloads for lecturers within the department
  • Manage departmental budgets and promote financial sustainability
  • Monitor teaching and learning processes for the department
  • Supervise lecturers in the department
  • Manage assessments
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and faculties
