Roles and Responsibilities

  • Drawing up of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD's) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's).
  • Generate General Arrangement (GA) Drawings in conjunction with Process, Mechanical and EC&I engineering disciplines. Drawings to show main plant dimensions, equipment tags and positions, general arrangement and elevation views.
  • Generate Civil Guideline drawings based on the approved GA drawings, showing plinth coordinates and design loads, building and civil structure requirements, for civil costing and detail design by others.
  • Assist Mechanical Engineers with regards to mechanical design & costing (structural steel, equipment supports, platforms & walkways, etc.) and piping design & costing (piping systems, piping supports, cladding & insulation, etc.) through the generation of Bills of Materials (BOM), Isometric Drawings etc.
  • Assist EC&I Engineers with regards to EC&I design and costing, including cable racking positioning and generation of the relevant Bill of Materials (BOM)
  • Responsible for the writing of piping specifications relevant to client specifications.
  • Programming of piping specifications into 3D modelling software and ensuring accuracy of Bills of Material and automated drawings generated from software.
  • 3D modelling on AutoCAD 3D Plant software.
  • Conversion of 3D models from other software packages (e.g. AutoCAD CADWorx, Autodesk Inventor) into recognised AutoCAD 3D Plant format.
  • Generation of basic and detail engineering design drawings as per the Engineering Procedures.

Roles and Responsibilities (cont.)

  • Provide assistance to Mechanical Engineer to verify that mechanical construction by subcontractors comply with detail design specifications, sign off on vendor and subcontractor drawings, incorporate detail equipment drawings into design, and verify that correct asbuilt drawings are issued.
  • Responsible for the stamping, filing and archiving of hard copies and archiving of electronic copies of equipment used in model generation, as well as all project drawings.
  • Responsible for drawing control, the recording of drawing histories and the stamping requirements of drawings issued.
  • Responsible for the generation of asbuilt drawings after project completion, based on redlined drawings produced during construction, or based on actual site measurement by the draughtsman.
  • Responsible for the adherence of drawing office to any and all internal and client specifications applicable for all work.
  • Ensure work is executed on time, within draughting manhour budget and is cost effective in accordance with Group procedures and standards.
  • Communicating progress, problems and solutions to your line manager.
  • Keep up to date with latest developments, design tools & guidelines inside the company, in the field of draughting and from local / international draughting software suppliers
  • Provide projectspecific input to Project Manager to resolve construction issues during site work.

Quality, Health & Safety

  • Ensure health and safety legislation and contractual obligations pertaining to health & safety are adhered to throughout the project.
  • Read and understand the ISO9001:2008 manual for the procedures pertaining to the Tendering, Engineering and Projects Division.

External Relations

  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, consultants and contractors on technical and commercial aspects
  • Interacts with partners and other companies in the group
  • Produce presentations and/or represent the company at trade fairs and seminars

Other

  • Attend all training seminars pertaining to this position.
  • Perform any other duties required by the

General Manager:
Engineering.


Job Requirements

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or suitable training from a certified institution in basic CAD Draughting.
  • Minimum of 5 years 3D Modelling and Piping experience on AutoCAD 3D Plant.
  • Training on AutoCAD, CADWorx, AutoCAD Plant and/or Autodesk Inventor will be an advantage.
  • General working knowledge of piping systems and structural steel design.
  • Detail orientated.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills
  • Communication and Organizational skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer Literacy (Google Suite or equivalent)
  • Good organisational skills
