Location:
Philippi, Cape Town - South Africa

POSITION PURPOSE

To ensure the overall maintenance of existing buildings, services, plant and equipment, and the implementation of new capital projects and leading the maintenance team.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

At least 5 years working experience in a similar role within a technical production environment focused on maintenance.
Trade tested or engineering related qualification would be advantageous
Strong expertise in manufacturing & production processes + good base knowledge of manufacturing equipment
At least basic knowledge of + a keen in LEAN principles.
Demonstrated people supervisory / leadership skills Shows a proactive attitude with a focus on finding solutions + strong analytical skills
Combines strong technical qualities with an open and enthusiastic communication style (at all levels)
Has the ability to analyze current work methodologies and processes, from planning to delivery
Understanding of and ability to actively run EHS for the site

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1.
Maintenance Management

Lead the maintenance team ensuring the team has the skills to roll out a TPM maintenance program.
Develop a network of key contractors to assist with breakdown level maintenance
Manage and control the inventory of critical spares to support the planned reliability
Identify continuous improvement projects with safety and financial feasibility
Expense Management

Coordination of technical improvement projects + EHS

Analyse current production processes + machinery make proactive recommendations for improvement and optimization.
Manage approved projects including sourcing suppliers, cost, ROI, efficiency, quality, health & safety indicators + ensuring rollout and engagement with internal and external stakeholders
Assist Plant Manager and EHS coordinator in ensuring EHS is compliant for the site

3.
Facilities

Develop and maintain all facility related activities and projects (cleaning, sanitary, office equipment etc)

WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are reflective of those required to accomplish the essential functions of the job. The working environment includes office, plant production floor, and outside exposed to elements. Physical activity required includes walking and standing approximately seventy percent of the time. Occasional lifting of up to 15kg with some bending, stooping, and climbing required.
