Job Description
As a People Systems Specialist, you will be the driving force behind the administration, optimisation, and continual enhancement of our Human Capital Management (HCM) ecosystem. You will be the subject matter expert who ensures our HR technology is robust, reliable, and ready to support a high performance culture across the organisation. Beyond day‑to‑day system stewardship, you will use Business Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence concepts, advanced Excel, and thoughtful data analytics to turn people data into practical insights, streamline and automate processes, and enable confident, data‑informed decisions. In doing so, you will help empower leaders with the right information at the right time, design people‑centred experiences that lift engagement, shape focused learning solutions that build future‑ready capability, and strengthen talent management and succession planning so we attract and grow the right talent to deliver on our strategy.
Job Requirements
Role Requirements
You bring a solid academic foundation, with a degree or an equivalent NQF 7 qualification in Human Resources, Information Technology, or a closely related field. You are curious, rigorous, and committed to continuous learning, pairing technical understanding with a practical appreciation of how people, processes, and systems come together to enable performance. Your qualifications give you the confidence to advise leaders, partner with stakeholders, and translate complex needs into well‑designed, people‑first solutions that advance our People Partner Strategy. You have five years progressive experience in HCM system configuration, and at least 2 years' experience in HCM administration and support, and you are comfortable acting as a super user who can own security, configuration, and the governance that underpins data integrity. You have hands‑on experience with at least one major enterprise HCM platform, ideally SAGE, and have an established track record of at least three years' experience in data analytics, business intelligence, and reporting, ideally within an HR context. It would also be an advantage to have a track record in working within a payroll background. You are highly capable and have proven experience of 5 years in advance Microsoft Excel for analysis, modelling, and reporting, and you enjoy turning complexity into clarity for leaders and teams. Your experience shows that you can manage competing priorities, deliver projects from concept to completion, and bring stakeholders with you, always with a focus on empowering leadership, lifting engagement, and enabling talent growth.
Skills Requirements
You combine exceptional analytical thinking with disciplined problem‑solving and an unwavering attention to detail. You communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally, and you take pride in explaining technical concepts in a way that any audience can understand. You are proactive, self‑motivated, and commercially aware, with a strong grasp of core HR processes and the ways technology can enhance them. You have deep functional and technical knowledge of a leading HCM platform, including configuration, security, reporting, and integrations. Your data toolkit includes statistical analysis, data modelling, and predictive analytics; advanced Excel capability across complex formulas, PivotTables, Power Query, and ideally VBA or macros; and familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts applied thoughtfully to HR, such as intelligent automation, conversational support, and predictive insights. You understand the importance of confidentiality and handle sensitive information with absolute discretion. Above all, you have a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for using data to help people thrive, teams perform, and leaders lead with confidence.
Role Impact
In this role, you will make the system work feel effortless for our people and powerful for our leaders. You will steward the HCM platform to provide a smooth, secure, and reliable experience, while constantly looking for smart improvements that save time and reduce friction. You will transform people data into meaningful insight, illuminating trends, risks, and opportunities, so leaders can make informed, timely decisions that build a high performance culture. You will champion leadership empowerment and accountability by equipping managers with intuitive tools, trusted information, and practical training that fosters self‑sufficiency and clarity. You will help create people‑centric experiences that spark engagement, from seamless processes to accessible self‑service that genuinely makes work easier.
Day to day, this means you will manage and optimise the HCM system with care and precision; translate evolving business needs into well‑designed configurations; troubleshoot effectively to keep the experience smooth. You will design and maintain reports, dashboards, and analyses using both native tools and external BI platforms, ensuring data is consistent, accurate, and easy to understand. You will explore and recommend AI‑enabled enhancements that improve process efficiency and the colleague experience, and you will support their integration in a way that is ethical, secure, and human‑centred. You will partner closely with HR and cross‑functional stakeholders and build capability.
