    Description

    Job Title

    A Retail Store Assistant is required to ensure service excellence at the point of sale by efficiently directing and controlling operational activities, managing stock and cash, and delivering superior customer service.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Operational Management: Direct and control all point of sale operational activities in a timely and efficient manner.
    2. Stock and Cash Management: Ensure effective and safe management of stock and cash, minimizing shrinkage and maintaining high standards of housekeeping and administration.
    3. Employee Supervision: Train, motivate, and direct shop assistants/cashiers to fulfill their duties while delivering exceptional customer service.
    4. Staffing: Ensure sufficient staffing of shop assistants/cashiers in line with work schedules, company policies, and labor legislation.
    5. Customer Service: Timeously resolve customer queries according to Company policies and promote the Clicks clubcard to achieve participation targets.
    6. Security Measures: Effectively manage stock by enforcing security measures, cash controls, returns policies, and other relevant administrative duties to minimize stock losses and maximize security procedures.
    7. Customer Experience: Deliver superior customer service as a brand ambassador, being visible and offering friendly and professional service.
    8. Product Knowledge: Maintain updated knowledge on products, ranges, promotions, and events to provide accurate information to customers.

    Requirements:

    1. Grade 12 qualification or equivalent.
    2. Desirable: Mathematics (50%) and English (50%) at Grade 12 level.
    3. 1 year experience in a customer-facing role, overseeing employees within a retail/FMCG store operations environment.
    4. Numeracy and stock management experience.

    Skills and Abilities:

    1. Understanding and application of financial management principles.
    2. Retail/FMCG background and understanding of merchandising and promotions principles.
    3. Knowledge of stock, cost, risk, and compliance management procedures.
    4. Knowledge of customer service excellence.
    5. Knowledge of labor legislation and IR practices.
    6. Results and target-driven.
    7. Sound managerial skills.
    8. Planning and organizing skills.
    9. Problem-solving skills.
    10. Computer literacy.
