    Description

    Job Title

    Compliance Specialist

    Purpose

    To provide specialist advice and support in order to implement relevant components of risk management and to monitor and advise on associated compliance (or non-compliance), through the execution of predefined objectives as per agreed SOPs.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Accountable for the execution of specialised work including the improvement of quality, standards and outputs within defined work routines and operating procedures.
    • Proactively solves problems, determines root-cause and applies solutions in line with guidelines, providing the necessary information to solve problems related to area of specialisation.
    • Plan for own task execution and advise on improvements related to area of specialisation.
    • Perform compliance management activities to minimize compliance risk to the business and ensure adherence with policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with business and regulatory requirements.
    • Ongoing monitoring of emerging and existing laws, regulations, and industry practices relevant to the business and driving the implementation of appropriate interventions.
    • Review incident data and carry out root cause analysis to ascertain the cause and monitor remediation initiatives.
    • Provide opinions on compliance-related enquiries and guidance regarding the products/services of the business, in accordance with emerging/new regulations.
    • Remain abreast of changes in the compliance landscape, provide advice on upcoming regulations, evaluate the overall impact on the business, and provide appropriate recommendations.
    • Implement the approved compliance program across all areas of the business.
    • Detect potential compliance issues and provide recommendations for corrective action as appropriate.
    • Support compliance and ethics communication, training initiatives across the organization.
    • Analyse changes in the law and impact on business; consult with operational and functional teams to ensure program effectiveness.

    Requirements

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • 2 – 3 years experience in a similar environment.
    • Bachelors Degree and Professional Qualifications in Finance, Economics, and Accounting.

    Preferred Qualifications

    A post graduate diploma in Compliance is an advantage. Membership with CISA is an added advantage. Regulatory Exams where required.
