    Description

    Job Description Summary: Join a multi-disciplinary engineering team as a Civil Engineer (Water) to design water infrastructure, manage contracts, and lead junior staff.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design and implementation: Design of water infrastructure, including pipelines, pump stations, boreholes, water/wastewater treatment works, reservoirs, control valves etc.
    • Reporting: Prepare reports for all stages of project implementation, including inception, feasibility/business plans, concept & viability, design development, tender & procurement, close-out etc.
    • Contract management: Overall contract/project management, including interaction with clients, contractors & other stakeholders, attendance of progress meetings, preparation of payment certificates, dealing with contractual claims etc.
    • Staff management: Management of junior staff, including supervision of drawings, designs, reports etc.
    • Tender documentation: Preparation of tender documentation, including specification writing, bill of quantities and drawings
    • Client liaison and marketing: General Client liaison and marketing

    Requirements:

    • Education: Minimum B Eng. Degree in Civil Engineering.
    • Experience: Minimum four (4) years practical experience in the design of water infrastructure, contract management, quality monitoring, report writing etc.
    • Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D & Wadiso/Epanet. Experience in Revit & Surge design software beneficial. Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
    • Registration: Looking to register as a Professional Engineer within the next 24 months.
    • Languages: Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English. Proficiency in isiZulu advantageous.
    • Diversity: Candidates from Previously Disadvantaged Groups will have preference.
    • Relocation: Willing to relocate to Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
